ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon police officer has been indicted on sex abuse charges.

Albany police said Friday that Officer Rick Hawley was arrested Thursday by the Oregon State Police on charges of sex abuse and hindering prosecution after he was indicted by a Linn County grand jury.

Officials said Hawley is a six-year veteran of the Albany Police Department and has worked his entire career as a patrol officer.

Police said the charges involve an incident while Hawley was off duty. He had been placed on administrative leave in April pending an investigation.
