PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) — The Puyallup (pew-AL’-up) Fair opened Friday with the traditional cattle drive in downtown Puyallup.

Rodeo, concerts, rides, exhibits, food, flowers and animal displays are mainstays of the 17-day event.

A new feature is a video game exhibit with 34 games or platforms and three upcoming tournaments.

The Fiestas Patrias on Sept. 19 will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence.

The Puyallup fair says it’s the largest in the Northwest and the eighth-largest fair in the world.
