Game notes

• 3A GSHL WASTES NO TIME: It’s Week 2 and just like that, we have games that really count. It’s league play for four teams in the 3A Greater St. Helens League. And in an interesting scheduling twist, all four teams are 1-0.

• GETTING CLOSER TO THEIR NEW DIGS: The Camas Papermakers went to Seattle in Week 1. Now, they are back in Clark County but in McKenzie Stadium to face Mountain View. Next week, the Papermakers are scheduled to open up their new stadium.

• WE KNOW YOU: The Columbia River-Kelso rivalry returns to a bit more importance. For the past two years, Kelso was a 4A GSHL team. Now back in 3A, this is a league game. River won a defensive battle with Kelso last year.

• TWO-FOR-ONE AT KIGGINS BOWL: Hudson’s Bay will host R.A. Long at 5 p.m, then Fort Vancouver hosts Battle Ground at 8 p.m. at Kiggins Bowl. One ticket for both games. Quite a deal.

• SPUDDERS. BEAVERS. BE THERE: Reclassification has turned this rivalry into a non-league game, but it is still fun when these two teams match up.

• EAST SIDE VS. WEST SIDE: Union will host a Saturday afternoon game at McKenzie Stadium. Die-hard high school football fans will watch that game at 1 p.m, then head west to Kiggins Bowl for Skyview’s home opener at 7 p.m.
