OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Enrollment is open again for Washington’s prepaid tuition program.
It now costs $117 to buy one unit in Washington’s prepaid tuition program, or about $11,700 for a year for tuition at the state’s most expensive public colleges.
Program director Betty Lochner says GET units have been used at colleges in all 50 states and five foreign countries. The units can be used to pay for any public or private college.
GET is Washington state’s 529 plan. More than 120,000 accounts have been opened since the program began in 1998.
Despite rising tuition rates, GET remains a self-sustaining program and is not dependent on state general funds.
