Taliaferro throws 3 TD passes for Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Dustin Taliaferro threw three touchdown passes, and Darion Sutton returned a blocked punt 24 yards for a score to help Samford beat Division II Newberry 38-35 on Thursday night.

Taliaferro, 10 of 18 for 178 yards, threw scoring strikes to Quin Roberson (41 yards), Chris Cephus (46 yards) and Bill Kottas (40 yards) for the Bulldogs (2-1).

Bryan Ehrlich was 24 of 42 for 355 yards and four touchdowns for the Wolves (1-2). David Pressley caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
