PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police are looking for an armed Idaho man who eluded police after a robbery and car theft near a campground in central Oregon.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s office says 47-year-old James Patrick Powers has been identified as the man fleeing the scene. Police say he was armed with a long barrel firearm after he fled on foot from the stolen car.

Powers ditched the vehicle after attempting to elude Oregon State Police troopers on Highway 58.

Police say Powers is a registered sex offender.
