CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — A Northern Illinois spokeswoman says football coach Jerry Kill is out of the hospital but isn’t yet sure if he’ll be with the Huskies for Saturday’s game at Illinois.
Spokeswoman Donna Turner said Friday that Kill was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital late Thursday. Turner says the school plans to announce more details later about Kill’s condition and whether he’ll coach this week.
If Kill can’t make Saturday’s game, defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys will serve as head coach
Kill had been hospitalized since last weekend after he became dehydrated during the Huskies’ win over North Dakota. NIU officials say Kill’s illness isn’t related to a past bout with kidney cancer.
