SEATTLE (AP) — After four years of talks, regional carrier Horizon Air and the Teamsters union say they have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract for the airline’s 673 pilots.
The union said Friday that it should be ready to present details of the agreement to the pilots by late October, with a ratification vote to follow. No details about contract terms are being released until then.
The contract first came up in September 2006, but the two sides couldn’t reach agreement until now. A federal mediator was brought in last January. Under federal law, airline contracts don’t expire, so the old contract is in effect until a new one is ratified.
Horizon, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc., serves 45 cities in the West, Mexico and Canada.
