SEATTLE (AP) — It rained Friday night on the Seattle Storm’s parade, but that didn’t seem to matter to more than 5,000 fans who turned out at Seattle’s KeyArena to celebrate the team’s second WNBA championship.

Fan Breyahna Coston didn’t even bother with an umbrella, telling The Seattle Times, “This is Seattle, this is nothing!”

Players and owners piled into the back of Subaru Outbacks as a police escort led them in a brief parade from the base of the Space Needle to KeyArena.

Inside the arena, fans awaited the team’s arrival while dancing in their seats.

Earlier, Gov. Chris Gregoire and Lt. Gov. Brad Owen proclaimed Friday as “Seattle Storm Day” in Washington state after the team’s three-game sweep of the Atlanta Dream.

The Storm also won the championship in 2004.
