GRANDVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Police say a couple accused of stealing a car in Grandview will likely face kidnapping as well as theft charges, although they didn’t know at first a 7-year-old boy was sleeping in the back seat.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports a man jumped in the car that was left running Monday while the mother dropped off another child at a day care.

Officer Mitch Fairchild says when the man discovered the boy he ditched the car and pointed the boy toward town. He was found OK about 10 minutes later by residents who called police.

Grandview officers later arrested a 31-year-old Sunnyside man and a 27-year-old Prosser woman who had followed him in another car.
