COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh has been elected to the USA Volleyball Board of Directors.
Walsh will take over the seat designated for female beach volleyball players. The position was previously held by Tyra Turner.
Walsh has been active in pressing the national governing body to give more representation to beach volleyball players. Before winning three world beach championships with partner Misty May-Treanor, along with gold medals in Athens and Beijing, Walsh was on the U.S. indoor volleyball team at the Sydney Olympics and helped Stanford win two NCAA indoor titles.
