VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Vancouver soldier who lost part of his left leg in a roadside bomb explosion five years ago in Iraq is returning to Iraq as an amputee.

Sgt. Matt Braddock told KATU-TV he has worked to prove to military medical boards he can perform with a prosthetic leg without being a liability to fellow soldiers.

Braddock will serve the next year as a truck commander in Iraq, providing security for convoys.
