ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay All-Star third baseman Evan Longoria will miss a three-game weekend series against Seattle due to a left quadriceps strain.

Rays manager Joe Maddon made the announcement before Friday night’s game with the Mariners. Maddon added that Longoria will be re-evaluated on Monday and that he might be out until the middle of next week.

Longoria, hitting .294 with 22 homers and 104 RBIs in 151 games this season, was hurt making a defensive play in Thursday night’s 10-3 win over the New York Yankees.
