LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Phillip Tanner ran for 104 yards and a touchdown and D.D. Kyles scored twice to lead Middle Tennessee to a 34-14 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday night.

The Blue Raiders (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference) took a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter on Kyles’ 8-yard touchdown run. Tanner rushed for a 26-yard touchdown to put Middle Tennessee ahead 17-7 midway through the second.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (2-1, 1-1) cut the margin to three points twice on Chris Mason’s 3-yard scoring pass to Ladarius Green and Blaine Gautier’s 2-yard run that made it 17-14 with 3:04 left in the first half.

MTSU’s Alan Gendreau made a 55-yard field goal — the second-longest in school and conference history — to give them a six-point halftime lead. Logan Kilgore connected with Malcolm Beyah for a 62-yard touchdown and Kyles scored from 74 yards away in the third quarter.
