Old Dominion jumps out early, beats Monmouth 35-21

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Thomas DeMarco completed 28 of 47 passes for 407 yards and four touchdowns as Old Dominion scored 27 unanswered points to defeat Monmouth 35-21 on Saturday.

The Monarchs (2-2) fell behind early after Monmouth linebacker Don Brooks intercepted DeMarco on the opening possession of the game to give the Hawks the ball near midfield.

Monmouth (0-3) scored six plays later on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Frazier to Chris Hogan, taking a 7-0 lead.

Old Dominion went on to score the next 27 points, thanks to field goals of 23 and 20 yards from Jarod Brown and touchdown passes of 22, 21 and 4 yards from DeMarco to enter halftime with a 27-7 lead.

DeMarco added his fourth score of the game with a 48-yard touchdown pass to wideout Prentice Gill with 7:24 left in the fourth quarter.

Gill had six receptions for 154 yards and two scores.
