Russia’s Kashirina sets world record in Turkey

ANTALYA, Turkey (AP) — Tatiana Kashirina of Russia has broken the world record in the snatch at the World Weightlifting Championships in the women’s super heavyweight category.

Kashirina lifted 310.9 pounds (141 kilograms) to set a snatch world record Saturday, and then improved by 8.8 pounds (4 kilograms) on that, lifting 319.7 pounds (145 kilograms).

The previous record of 308.6 pounds (140 kilograms) was held by Olympic champion Jang Mi-ran of South Korea.
