EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Nikolai Khabibulin made 26 saves, rookie Jordan Eberle had two goals and an assist, and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vancouver Canucks 8-2 in a preseason game Sunday.

Shawn Horcoff and Dustin Penner also scored twice, and Chris Vande Velde and Linus Omark had the other goals for the Oilers (3-0-0).

Manny Malholtra and Ryan Kesler scored for the Canucks (1-4-0).

Khabibulin was making his first start since suffering a string of setbacks, starting with a season-ending back injury last November. He was also convicted last month of drunken driving and excessive speeding in a Scottsdale, Ariz., suburb last February.
