MIR ALI, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say a suspected U.S. missile strike has killed two people near the Afghan border.
The officials say Monday’s attack targeted a house in a village near Mir Ali, a major town in the North Waziristan tribal area. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
The missile strike is the 20th such attack this month — the most intense barrage since they first started in Pakistan in 2004.
The U.S. refuses to publicly acknowledge the strikes, but officials have said privately that they have killed several senior al-Qaida and Taliban commanders.
