SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — A man who was picking brush has been killed in woods near Shelton.

Mason County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dean Byrd says another brush picker reported the death about 10 a.m. Wednesday in an area off Highway 101 about eight miles northwest of Shelton.

Byrd says the victim is about 25 years old and probably was shot.

There’s no obvious suspect or motive.

Byrd says deputies have secured the area and are bringing in a search dog.

Brush pickers collect foliage for the floral industry.
