SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane convenience store clerk was stabbed when he tried to stop a man from walking away with an 18-pack of beer.

Police Sgt. Tracie Meidl says the clerk tackled the thief in the parking lot of the Zip Trip store Wednesday night and was stabbed in the lower back. He was treated at a hospital and is expected to survive.
