HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — The New York Red Bulls’ trade for Dwayne De Rosario has already paid off, after the midfielder set up a goal in a 1-1 draw with Houston on Saturday night.
The Red Bulls acquired De Rosario from Toronto FC on Friday for Tony Tchani, Danleigh Borman and a draft pick. They hoped he could create chances for Thierry Henry and Juan Agudelo, but started off by feeding Dane Richards for a goal in the 47th minute against the Dynamo.
Cam Weaver tied the game in the 50th minute when Red Bulls goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul, making his first start, ventured too far out of goal.
Weaver had just replaced Brian Ching, who hurt his ribs in a collision with Coundoul
The Red Bulls (1-0-2) moved into second place in the Eastern Conference, a point behind Philadelphia. The Dynamo (0-1-2) remained in last place.
