SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — News organizations have asked a federal judge to unseal the documents that led to the arrest of an alleged white supremacist in connection with the planting of a bomb at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Spokane on Jan. 17.

But federal prosecutors said the investigation is on-going, and that releasing information now could jeopardize that case. The government also contends the news organizations have no right to grand jury materials.

Cowles Publishing Co., which publishes The Spokesman-Review newspaper, argued against that position. Cowles was joined in the case by The Associated Press and The Seattle Times

Kevin Harpham remains in the Spokane County Jail without bail. His trial date is set for May 31. He is charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and unauthorized possession of an unregistered explosive device.
