Police continued to search Thursday for an armed man who held up the U.S. Bank in Camas on Wednesday and fled with some cash he carried in a backpack.

Camas police referred all questions to the FBI office in Seattle. A spokesman there said the case is being investigated jointly, but the FBI may take the lead since the robbery involved a weapon and was a federal crime.

Fred Gutt of the FBI said surveillance photos of the suspect will be released when they become available.

The robber was described as a thin white man about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 40 to 45 years old. He wore a dark rain jacket, a beige scarf over his face and gloves.

As he left the bank, he was seen putting the bank’s cash and a small-caliber handgun into a backpack that appeared to have only one strap, officials said.

There were no injuries. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
