SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Seven of the world’s top cycling teams, including top-ranked HTC-Highroad, will compete in this year’s Tour of Utah.
The seventh-annual road race has been upgraded this year to one of only three 2.1-rated stage races in North America. It starts with a prologue Aug. 9 in Park City and finishes Aug. 14 with a race from Park City to Snowbird Ski Resort.
Team RadioShack will compete for the first time while RadioShack member Levi Leipheimer, who raced for Mellow Johnny’s last year, is expected to defend his title.
The Trek-LIVESTRONG Development Team owned by seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong returns after finishing third overall last year.
The final field of 15 pro teams and 120 riders is expected to be announced later this month.
