BOSTON (AP) — The winless Boston Red Sox recalled right-hander Alfredo Aceves from Triple-A Pawtucket and activated lefty Felix Doubront from the 15-day disabled list.

To make room, the team designated left-handed reliever Dennys Reyes for assignment and placed righty Matt Albers on the DL with a back muscle strain.

Reyes has made four appearances in the first six games, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in 1 2-3 innings.

The Red Sox returned to Boston after a season-opening 0-6 road trip to face the New York Yankees in the home opener on Friday.

Manager Terry Francona said outfielder Carl Crawford would bat leadoff for the first time.
