BALTIMORE (AP) — The Orioles have optioned right-hander Brad Bergesen to Triple-A Norfolk and selected the contract of pitcher Chris Jakubauskas, who could start Sunday against Texas.

Jakubauskas will pitch Sunday if Jeremy Guthrie hasn’t sufficiently recovered from a high fever that forced him to miss his last scheduled start.

The move, made Saturday before Baltimore’s doubleheader against the Rangers, gives the Orioles 40 players on their 40-man roster.

Jakubauskas appeared in five games for Baltimore in spring training, allowing no runs and four hits in 6 1-3 innings. In 36 career games with Seattle and Pittsburgh, the right-hander is 6-8 with a 5.48 ERA.

Bergesen started one game this season, allowing two runs in 3 2-3 innings in a loss to Detroit.
