LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) — The Lincoln City Police officer who was shot and badly wounded two months ago finally returned home.

Officer Steven Dodds was wounded during a traffic stop in January. He suffered serious injuries in his abdomen and has been in a Portland hospital ever since.

But on Saturday he received a rock star welcome from family, friends and colleagues who gathered at a local high school to see him.

Dodds still had a visibly difficult time walking, but says he never once gave up hope he would make it through this ordeal.

He still has more recovery ahead of him, but says he’s hoping to be back on patrol soon.

Police are still looking for David Durham, the man accused of shooting Dodds.
