ZURICH (AP) — FIFA says the main qualifying draw for the 2014 World Cup will take place in Rio de Janeiro on July 30.
Last month, FIFA said a host city for the draw was undecided because contracts with a venue were not signed.
The event will be staged at the Marina da Gloria, the scheduled venue for sailing at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The draw will allocate teams from FIFA’s six continental confederations into qualifying groups.
Some Asian countries will kick off their World Cup program in June over two preliminary rounds to reach the main draw.
The 2014 World Cup is scheduled for June 13-July 13 in 12 Brazilian cities.
