A 17-year-old from Vancouver was in satisfactory condition at Southwest Washington Medical Center on Sunday night with injuries she suffered late Friday night in a traffic accident.

Chayenne Redman was being treated for neck, hip and shoulder injuries.

Dughan Small, 20, of Vancouver also was in the accident. He returned to the hospital’s emergency room Sunday night for treatment of a fractured right hand.

The two were passengers in a 1991 Plymouth Sundance that was driven by David Jordan, 24, of Vancouver. Jordan attempted to turn left on a red light at state Highway 500 and St. Johns Boulevard and his car collided with a 1988 Ford Expedition driven by Jaime Seward of Vancouver. The mishap occurred at about 11:30 p.m.

Another passenger in the Sundance, Aleata Rick, 21, needed to be extricated by Vancouver firefighters, said her mother, the Rev. Leslie Rick. Aleata Rick was treated at Southwest for neck, shoulder and back injuries and was released Sunday.

A Washington State Patrol report said no one in the Expedition was hurt.

Jordan on Sunday night said he attempted to turn left because he confused the left-turn light with the light for drivers continuing west on Highway 500.

Jordan was cited for failure to obey a traffic device.
