SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane Park Board wants to get rid of a sculpture called the “dinosaur bone” that kids have been climbing on at Riverfront Park since Expo ’74.

City officials say the sculpture is showing wear and is not an accredited piece of play equipment.

The Spokesman-Review reports officials last week planned to throw the sculpture away. On Thursday officials said it would be transferred to whoever would pay to move and maintain it.

The sculpture was created by Charles W. Smith who was a University of Washington professor for more than 40 years. The sculptor died in 2009.
