PORTLAND — Scrap metal company Metro Metals Northwest Inc. on Friday said it has acquired a controlling share of Denver-based All Recycling Inc., a deal that prompted the hiring of six or seven employees at its Vancouver operation.

The Portland-based company also owns Pacific Coast Shredding and its huge metal shredding facility at the Port of Vancouver, a starting point for the company’s domestic and international steel exports, shipped by rail and barge.

The transaction between Metro Metals and All Recycling could create even more jobs for longshoremen in Vancouver, said Victor Winkler, president of Metro Metals. “It’s significant to Vancouver because it will provide extra tonnage for export,” he said.
