CLEVELAND (AP) — Outfielder Grady Sizemore is closer than ever to rejoining the Cleveland Indians and could be activated from the disabled list in the next two days.

Sizemore has not played in the majors since last May, when he injured his left knee and had microfracture surgery. He has had no setbacks and says he’s ready to play.

Manager Manny Acta would not give a specific return date for Sizemore, but said “it’s going to be soon.”

Acta said the Indians wanted to gauge Sizemore’s progress in a workout Saturday before making their next move with the three-time All-Star. Sizemore said when he does come back he does not expect to play every day and that the Indians will be “very, very careful” with him.
