Battle Ground kindergarten registration begins

BATTLE GROUND — Parents and guardians who live in Battle Ground school district and whose children will be 5 years old before Sept. 1 are encouraged to register them for 2011-12 kindergarten this week.

• Where: At the school the child will attend. If in doubt, see: http://battlegroundps.org and go to “Our Schools” tab then click on “School Boundaries” — or call 360-885-6577.

• When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday; plus these additional times: Glenwood Heights Primary School, 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday; Yacolt Primary School, 5 to 7:30 p.m. on April 28.

• Proof of birth date: Bring birth certificate to verify age. Child must be 5 before Sept. 1.

• Immunization information required: For diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, 4-5 doses DTaP with last dose on or after 4th birthday. Polio, 3- 4 doses with last dose on or after 4th birthday. MMR, 2 doses; first dose on or after 1st birthday; second dose, 28 days or more after first dose. HEP-B, 3 doses (Must follow spacing requirements; check with health care provider. Varicella (chicken pox): 2 doses, first dose on or after 1st birthday; second dose, 28 days or more after first dose; or health care provider verification that child has had disease.
