SALEM (AP) — Police say a man arrested Sunday for public indecency at a Salem park had been released from prison four days earlier after serving time for similar sex offenses.
Police were called when the man was seen hiding behind a tree and masturbating while watching a family.
An officer who arrived saw the man masturbating while watching a group of children. He ran from the officer and jumped into the Willamette River. He came out of the water after a few minutes and surrendered.
The 33-year-old man is held in the Marion County Jail on sex offense charges and parole violation.
