One teen was hospitalized following a single-vehicle wreck early Sunday on Northwest Lower River Road.
Three 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, all males, were traveling eastbound in the vehicle that crashed into a ditch at 1:15 a.m. in the 3300 block of Lower River Road, near the Port of Vancouver.
When police arrived, one teen had left the scene, and two were outside the vehicle. The other teen had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Vancouver Fire Department and was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to an area hospital. The teen was talking during transport and was evaluated in intensive care later Sunday, said Kim Kapp, a Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman. The extent of his injuries was not clear.
Early indicators are that excessive speed played a role in the crash. The police department’s traffic unit is handling the investigation. The juveniles’ names were not released.
