Kostelic to have minor knee surgery

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Overall World Cup champion Ivica Kostelic says he needs minor knee surgery, which will sideline him from training for a few weeks.

Kostelic told Croatia’s HINA news agency that an “enlarged bone” in his right knee. He says it hurts while he skis, but doesn’t bother him off the slopes.

He says he hopes to get back to training about two to three weeks after surgery.

Kostelic won seven events and the overall World Cup trophy this season.
