SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Salem-Keizer School District has starting notifying 192 employees their jobs will be eliminated in June by budget cuts.

The Statesman Journal reports most of the jobs are teachers’ assistants. Others are custodians and maintenance workers.

The district expects the reductions will account for about $8 million of the $55 million it’s trying to cut from next year’s budget.
