PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — The FBI says a Washington man with racist ties has been arrested on a federal gun charge. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, FBI office supervisor Don Robinson said Jeremiah Daniel Hop was arrested Wednesday. A grand jury indicted the man on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Spokesman-Review says the 29-year-old Hop was convicted of third-degree child rape in 2005.

Robinson says investigators searched Hop’s home near Pullman as well as another Whitman County property associated with him. Robinson describes Hop as being involved in racist circles.

Hop is accused of possessing a 12 gauge semiautomatic shotgun on March 25.

FBI Spokane office supervisor Frank Harrill tells the newspaper the case is not connected to the planting of a bomb along a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade route in January in Spokane. One man has been arrested in that case.
