La Center — On March 26, more than 40 volunteers came to the La Center Bottoms to help remove plastic tree protectors from the wetlands. For more than a year, Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation has worked with La Center Schools, local citizens and Eagle Scouts in an ongoing effort to remove all the unused tree protectors from this natural area.

Brody Hollingshead, 17, directed this latest effort as part of earning his Eagle Scout award, and with the help of Scout Troop # 381 and local citizens, he removed and recycled over 600 tree protectors.
