Talk about saving some cash on an obstetrician.

Two firefighters delivered a baby girl Wednesday afternoon, after arriving at a home in the Battle Ground area to find the mother in the back seat of a car and no time for a trip to a hospital.

Capt. Larry Bauska and Firefighter Joe Stiffler were called to the home, according to a bulletin from Clark County Fire District 3.

“Years of training kicked in for both Captain Bauska and Firefighter Stiffler. The baby girl was delivered without complication at 1:01 p.m. It was an emotional event with several family and friend onlookers,” the bulletin said.

“The crew did an outstanding job keeping calm and performing the way they were trained. Mom and baby were transported to the hospital and are doing great,” the bulletin said.

Names of mother and child were not released.
