Vancouver-based Tidewater Holdings Inc. announced Wednesday that it will close an Oregon subsidiary in May. Sundial Marine Construction & Repair of Troutdale, Ore., has specialized in the repair and construction of ships and barges during its 30 years of operation.

“After considerable thought and analysis of our shipyard business, Tidewater made the difficult decision to close Sundial,” said Tyler Kopet, Tidewater chief financial officer. “We believe this is the right long-term decision for the company and better positions Tidewater to focus on its core business of marine transportation and terminal operations. Sundial has been a valued part of the Tidewater family for many years, and this was not an easy decision to make.”
