FEZ, Morocco (AP) — Simona Halep of Romania defeated Greta Arn 6-2, 6-1 Friday to reach the semifinals of the Grand Prix.

Halep, who was runner-up last year after coming through the qualifiers, reached her first semifinal this year. She broke the fourth-seeded Arn’s serve six times, winning in just over an hour.

She will face either Nadia Lalami or Kirsten Flipkens, who play later Friday.

Play was suspended for rain late in the third set of the all-Russian match between former Dinara Safina and Anastasia Pivovarova.

Melanie Oudin of the United States is scheduled to face Alberta Brianti of Italy.
