SEATTLE (AP) — A 36-year-old Covington man was killed and a passenger injured in a crash that may have been caused by reckless drivers in East King County.

Trung Ngo died Saturday night.

State Patrol spokeswoman Julie Startup tells the Seattle Times that Ngo’s sport utility vehicle was struck head-on by a driver apparently trying to pass other motorists on the right shoulder.

Startup says 26-year-old Mine Her of Pullman and 39-year-old Frank Willing of Tacoma were driving recklessly on Highway 18 when Her pulled onto the right shoulder and lost control.

After the collision, Willing’s car rolled, injuring him and his 10-year-old son. Willing was booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide. Startup says Her is likely to be charged when he’s released from a hospital.
