PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland-area transit spokeswoman says a light rail train operator was able to stop a train before it hit a woman who fainted Monday and fell on to the tracks.

TriMet spokeswoman Bekki Witt says the woman fell from the platform at about 3 p.m., just as the MAX train was pulling into a stop in Washington County. But Witt tells The Oregonian the operator reacted quickly.

Witt had no details about the woman’s condition.
