VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Vancouver emergency dispatchers received a call Tuesday from a woman who said her house was on fire and she was trapped in the attic.

Capt. Chris Moen says firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to rescue the woman. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Columbian reports the fire was contained to the attic, but firefighters were hampered by a large volume of items stored in the space.
