Sex offender dies at Washington commitment center

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) — A sex offender from Walla Walla has died at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.

The Union-Bulletin reports that 62-year-old William A. Harris had a number of medical problems, including liver cancer.

He was being held for a civil commitment trial in Walla Walla County Superior Court.

After receiving notice Friday of the death, a judge dismissed the case.
