Stepping outside today could be an adventure: Forecasters are calling for cool temperatures, rain, possible thunderstorms and wind gusts as high as 22 mph.

The National Weather Service predicts a storm brewing over the coast to move over the region. The daytime high will be 52 degrees. Even if thunderstorms don’t materialize, up to a quarter-inch of rain is likely. Tonight’s low will be about 38 degrees.

Friday will be similarly dreary. The sun, though, is expected to break through over the weekend. Sunday’s high will be 71 degrees.
