ROMONT, Switzerland (AP) — Damiano Cunego of Italy won the third stage of the Tour de Romandie in a sprint finish on Thursday, and Pavel Brutt of Russia retained the overall lead.
Cunego edged Cadel Evans of Australia in a provisional time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, 53 seconds for the 106-mile leg starting and finishing in Romont.
Alexandr Vinokourov of Kazakhstan, was third in the same time.
Brutt struggled toward the end of another rain-soaked stage, but kept the leader’s yellow jersey with a 38-second advantage over Cunego. Evans is third overall, trailing Brutt by 42 seconds.
The 103-mile stage Friday is from Thierrens to Neuchatel.
