PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Caroline King’s strong closing leg propelled Boston College to victory in the women’s 6,000-meter race Friday at the 117th Penn Relays.

King ran down Georgetown anchor Emily Infeld in the final 200 meters, passing her just before the finish to cross in 17 minutes, 25.19 seconds at Franklin Field. Georgetown was second in 17:25.65.

The Eagles’ Caitlin Bailey ran the initial 1,500 in 4:25.2, Jillian King followed with a 4:18.8, Siobhan Breagy logged a 4:29.0 and King closed with a 4:12.2.

Infeld had a lead of about 20 meters for most of her split, but King and Villanova’s Sheila Reid closed the gap down the stretch. Infeld ran the 1,600 anchor leg on the Hoyas’ winning distance medley relay Thursday.

Villanova was third in 17:28.12.
