Ryan Villopoto wins in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Ryan Villopoto raced to his sixth Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory of the season Saturday night at Rice Eccles Stadium to take a nine-point lead over Chad Reed into the season finale next weekend in Las Vegas

Villopoto, the Kawasaki star from Poulsbo, Wash., took the lead when James Stewart crashed midway through the race. Reed was second, and Ryan Dungey finished third.

Earlier, Honda’s Eli Tomac, from Cortez, Colo., rode a flawless 15 laps en route to his second Western Regional Supercross Lites victory of the season. Tomac is two points behind Broc Tickle in the season standings.
